The historic boat-shaped building located inside the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve (across from the Duck Pond) has been on the verge of collapse, after sitting vacant for 15 years. The City of Palo Alto offered Environmental Volunteers the use of this much-beloved building for $1 per year rent for a term of 40 years, if the Environmental Volunteers took on reconstruction and historic restoration.

By taking on this project, the Environmental Volunteers will establish a new home in an ideal location at a key juncture along the 400-mile Bay Trail that circles San Francisco Bay. The EV will realize significantly reduced operating expenses over many years, that will translate into increased resources focused on science education.

The Capital Campaign was launched to fund reconstruction and to support new environmental education programs at the EcoCenter. Thanks to leadership gifts from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Bob and Jan Fenwick, and others, we have so far successfully raised more than $2 million toward our total goal of $4 million.

You can join us in making this exciting project a reality.
