Volunteer to Share Your Love of Nature, Science and Learning

Individual volunteers are the heart of the Environmental Volunteers. Being an Environmental Volunteer gives you the rewarding opportunity to share your love of nature and science, as well as the chance to engage in lifelong learning about the environment.

Our volunteers comprise a close-knit community of individuals committed to kids, nature and learning. They include people from many walks of life – parents, grandparents, working people, retired people, stay-at-home moms and dads, college students, and more. Each year they give over 4,000 hours of services in the classroom, on field trips, at the Environmental Volunteers office, at events, and in the community.

We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the EV family. Please check out our current volunteer opportunities to find the best match for you.

We work with small groups of children and involve them in hands-on, discovery-based learning, using our innovative teaching materials to educate children about Bay Area environments.

EcoCenter Docent

Our EcoCenter Docents are stationed at our homebase. They greet the public, and share their love of the outdoors with visitors of all ages. They might be leading nature hikes in the baylands, guiding visitors on our interactive touchscreen displays, or sharing hands-on learning activities about local birds, native plants, earthquakes, and more.

Internships

Assist in teaching the Environmental Volunteers programs to elementary level children (K–6).
