A dedicated volunteer Board of Trustees works with staff and volunteers on program related fundraising, strategic planning, and a multitude of committee-based projects.

Allan Berkowitz, ext 333
Allan Berkowitz assumed the role of Executive Director in August 2000. He is responsible for the overall direction and management of the organization. Allan has a Masters Degree in Education from Columbia University Teachers College in Instructional Technology. He has worked in the public benefit sector his entire career, the last 22 years in executive management.
Brittany Sabol, ext 338
Brittany graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of
Science in Ecology and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater. She has been
teaching everything from theater to physics to wildlife ecology for
nearly 15 years. She loves to watch movies, play the piano,
scrapbook, and travel with her husband.

Anita Rodriguez ext 348
Anita Rodriguez is responsible for managing teacher service requests, and volunteer assignments. Anita is a native of Ecuador, holds a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Central University of Ecuador, and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Environmental Studies from San Jose State University. Her future plans include a move to Ecuador with her husband and where she will continue to work in Environmental Education combined with ecotourism.
Coordinator of Volunteers
Nicole Wilson, ext 336
As one of the newer members of the EV staff, Nicole Wilson took on the
Coordinator of Volunteers position in January of 2008. She is
responsible for recruiting new volunteers in addition to nurturing and
supporting our long-time EVs. Prior to joining the EV family, Nicole
served as a Program Manager for WorldTeach, where she prepared
volunteers for living and teaching in developing countries around the
world. Nicole has lived and taught in China, Indonesia, South Korea,
Mexico, and Vietnam, and she's excited to be living on the West Coast
for the first time. Nicole holds an M.A. in TESOL from the School for
International Training and a B.A. in Anthropology and East Asian
Studies from Oberlin College. She enjoys cooking, watching movies,
traveling, and spending time with her dog.
Katie Donovan x338
As the Education Assistant, Katie is in charge of all of the materials that we take into the classrooms. She also helps Brittany with training and anything that needs to be done. Her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech has been particularly helpful in this role as we figured out to replace all of the formaldehyde-preserved specimens. Although not a traditional choice for an engineering student, she has fallen in love with education and the non-profit world and is thrilled to be working for such a great organization.

Justyne Schnupp ext 334
Justyne Schnupp supports the development department in raising
contributed revenue for annual programs and for the Capital Campaign.
She brings a background in non-profit membership and
corporate development with a concentration in business, technology and
the arts. Justyne graduated Cum Laude from the University of San
Francisco with a B.A. in Psychology and minor in Business. While in school, she developed a passion for education working for America Reads, guiding students in the USF Education Department, as well as, a summer teaching English and Math in Dangriga, Belize. She loves to laugh until it hurts, eat great food and
travel the world.
Sue Trautman ext 335
Sue Trautman assists in all facets of our development department with particular focus on donor recognition. Sue holds a B.A. from the University of Washington and has worked as a system analyst developing accounting systems. As a longtime volunteer in many organizations, Sue understands the volunteer experience and is very much the frontline nurturer of our donors and volunteers.
B.S. Elementary Education, University of Colorado. Curriculum Development Manager for Galileo Educational Services, a company that operates summer camps where engage in science, art and outdoor activities. Prior to working for Galileo, Joyce was the CEO of the BizWorld Foundation, an organization that teaches students in grades 3-8 how to start and run their own businesses. Joyce also spent nine years in educational publishing as a math and science consultant and then as a product manager, developing science series for students in grades K-6. She has been an Environmental Volunteer since 1982 and a trustee since 2002.

M.S./B.S in Electrical Engineering, Stanford University. Founder and CTO of Fuzz Artists, an artist label and music community headquarted in San Francisco. Previously he served as Chief Executive & Director, Stanford University's Networking Research Center and in various senior management positions in technology, management consulting and research organizations. Director and Marine Naturalist for ecosystem explorations with 7Forward. Former Board member / Treasurer, Wildlife Rescue. Volunteer teacher experience with BizWorld, Volunteers In Asia.
After 20 years as a communications and marketing exec at global technology firms such as Aspect Communications, SynOptics/Bay Networks and Sun Microsystems, Carol now consults to high-growth technology companies. She served five years on the board of a Menlo Park non-profit education foundation. As co-president, she helped build an endowment while increasing donations, and volunteer and community support to deliver a record $2 million annual grant for public schools. Carol holds a B.A. in linguistics and communications from UC Irvine.
Recently retired from Stanford University, where she served as Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for the School of Engineering. She's an experienced hands-on volunteer, having completed 5 years planting trees with Canopy, and has been active in her sons' Boy Scout troops for many years. She's excited both by way the EV provides role models for service and lifelong learning through our docents, not to mention the environmental focus of the programs themselves.

B.A. in Public Administration, Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo Database/IT Manager for the Junior League of San Jose. Former Senior Manager of Technical Support for Hyperion Solutions. Prior to this she lived and worked in England for 6 years. Her leadership positions on the EV board and as a volunteer docent include: Board Vice President of Governance 2001-04, Board President 2002-2005, and Regional Volunteer Coordinator 1996-97. EV docent since 1995.

Director of Product Marketing at Trading Dynamics. Earlier in his career, held several engineering and consulting positions at Oracle Corporation. Board member at San Francisco Contemporary Music Players.

Executive Director for Sustainable Silicon Valley, a non-profit partnership of governments, businesses and NGOs addressing the region's environmental issues, with its first initiative to reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Prior experience in public environmental education, landscape design, and neuroscience research.
