Women in Science was conceived to help girls build early, positive attitudes about science. Open to girls in 3rd - 5th grades, this program features a series of hands-on, in-depth education opportunities designed to grow their confidence, competence, and passion for natural science. Part of a broader initiative to provide multiple reinforcing science learning programs for girls, Women in Science brings together working female scientists with girls to help spark that confidence in their own potential.

Guest Presenter's Bio:
Blair Bazdarich is an Education Program Specialist in charge of school outreach and youth volunteer programs at the San Francisco Zoo. Her main focuses are the ZooMobile, bringing live animals to classrooms throughout the Bay Area, and the Talk on the Wild Side, Zoo Crew, and Zoo Teacher Assistant programs, helping students explore the fields of animal science and education. Blair began her career at the Zoo as a teen volunteer in the year 2000 and has since held many positions including Wild Nights Guide and Zoo Camp Lead.
She gained experience as an Animal Keeper both at the San Francisco Zoo and at the Jerusalem Zoo in Israel, and in 2013 designed and launched an outreach program focused on climate change at Aquarium of the Bay. Her commitment to science education doesn’t end with her day job; for the past five years Blair has co-hosted the podcast “This Week in Science” as the resident zoologist, with her own segment called Blair’s Animal Corner. Blair believes that demystifying science is at the root of inspiring caring for nature and advancing conservation action, and she hopes to help equip the next generation with the tools to make a brighter tomorrow!
