8th grade student Caroline Zhang from JLS Middle School has participated in Environmental Volunteer activities many times over the years. Caroline’s passion for connecting with the environment was clear from the very start.
A Nature inspired Art Competition
Now she is working on a project to encourage teenagers (or anyone!) to disconnect from their devices and to go out in nature to “de-stress” and to gain inspiration for creating art. As she says, “The environment and nature around us is beautiful and precious. I really appreciate the beautiful preserves and Baylands that we have in the city of Palo Alto. As a community, we rarely get the chance to recognize and enjoy nature.”
Caroline has developed an art competition where anyone is invited to visit the Baylands, go out into nature and create works of art. To enter the competition, create a piece of art that is related to nature. This can be a drawing, painting, sculpture, photograph, or any other form of art.
Find the entry form on her website at https://www.ecoartcz.org/e-v-e-n-t-s
Deadline for entries is March 30th 2019
Winning entries will be put on display at the EcoCenter from April 13th – June 15th. We will launch the exhibit with an art reception on April 13th.
Come meet the winners of the art contest and see their works on display on our gallery wall. Works will be on display through June 15th.
EcoArt is about bringing art and nature together to help people de-stress and reconnect to nature. It focuses on the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve and raises awareness and appreciation for our environment around our community.
