Saturday, May 15th 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
This is a workshop to introduce poetry to elementary school students, and to encourage them to better understand and advocate for nature. We’ll investigate some Bay Area plants and animals, and study different kinds of short poetry, including haikus and rhyming poems. After the workshop, students will feel inspired by the environment around them, and empowered to use their writer’s voices to advocate for our fragile ecosystems. This program is lead by teen docent, Maya. Program intended for ages 8 -11, all ages welcome.
1. Something to write with – computer or pen/paper
2. A nature item (leaf, flower, acorn, etc). Photos will also be provided for nature inspiration if you don’t have a nature item.
